Baseline AEO Analysis

A baseline AEO analysis is a structured measurement of a company's current AI search visibility before any optimization work begins. It captures Inclusion Rate, Citation Rate, and Share of Answer across a defined prompt set and provides the starting point against which all future AEO progress is measured.

Share of Answer

A measure of how often a company is mentioned in AI-generated responses to commercially relevant prompts in its market. Share of Answer is the AEO equivalent of share of voice: it tracks competitive presence across the prompts that matter most to a company's buying audience.

Discovery Gap

The difference between a company's visibility in open discovery prompts (where no vendor is named) and named evaluation prompts (where the company is specifically asked about). A large negative gap indicates the company's AI visibility depends on being named rather than being earned organically.

Citation Rate

The percentage of prompts where a company is explicitly cited as a source in the AI-generated response. Citation Rate measures a deeper level of AI visibility than Inclusion Rate: the model is not just mentioning the company but attributing information to it as a credible source.
